Day 67, Bratislava, SK – Hainburg, AT

logbook 25 07 28

The official journey is over — but we’re still moving, still documenting, still listening as we bring the ship back home. The crew has changed: Gigi and Stephan have left; Markus and Christine remain on board, heading upstream with a changing cast of artist-friends. The logbook continues.

It was by far the hardest day of our 67-day journey so far. Water levels are rising, and we’re now in a stretch with an exceptionally strong current.

We covered just 20 km in 9 hours, running the engine at 1500 rpm – something we’ve never done before – while navigating through Bratislava with its many bridges, buoys, and lots of drifting wood. We’re exhausted.

Tomorrow we won’t move on; instead, we’ll watch the rising water levels and the approaching flood.

Today, though: we took down the last flag from the bow. After 67 days, we’ve left Slovakia and are finally back in Austria.

Since last night, a new guest has joined us – Karin, who’ll be on board for the next few days – and we’ve said goodbye to Andreas, who left the ship upon our arrival in Hainburg.
