Day 65, Danube km 1746, HU – Danube km 1806, SK

logbook 25 07 26

The official journey is over — but we’re still moving, still documenting, still listening as we bring the ship back home. The crew has changed: Gigi and Stephan have left; Markus and Christine remain on board, heading upstream with a changing cast of artist-friends. The logbook continues.

The current was unpredictable today – at times we crawled along at just 3 km/h, then suddenly sped up to 7 or 8.

Today we changed our flag for the last time, entering Slovakia before crossing back into Austria.

Not long ago, it felt impossible to imagine life off the boat. Now, thoughts and plans are already shifting back toward home – appointments are being made, routines slowly creeping in.

Still, hearing about the weather makes us want to turn around and head downstream again. We left Austria in May, in the rain, sailed through 60 days of blue skies and sunshine, and are now returning home to rain.

The circle is closing – and somehow, it feels just right.

Until then, we’re making the most of our anchorages – soaking in every last quiet evening on the river.
