Day 61, Paks, HU – Dunaújváros, HU

logbook 25 07 22

The official journey is over — but we’re still moving, still documenting, still listening as we bring the ship back home. The crew has changed: Gigi and Stephan have left; Markus and Christine remain on board, heading upstream with a changing cast of artist-friends. The logbook continues.

Today marks a big crew change: Mathias leaves the ship, and Eva Schörkhuber and Andreas Pavlic come aboard. Both are writers – and, as it happens, also co-owners of the MaTjoPo.

Every time I think about what lies ahead for us and our old steel vessel, I feel excited and driven – wondering what might still be waiting out there.

The ship is strong. We’ve already covered nearly 4,000 kilometers – aboard a vessel built in 1948, powered by an engine from 1982 – and so far, everything has run smoothly.

Maybe that’s all the reassurance we need to keep dreaming big, navigating somewhere between the shores of reality and the horizons of utopia.
