The official journey is over — but we’re still moving, still documenting, still listening as we bring the ship back home. The crew has changed: Gigi and Stephan have left; Markus and Christine remain on board, heading upstream with a changing cast of artist-friends. The logbook continues.
We started the day gently – a short kayak ride, some yoga, and a slow morning. We knew it would be a short passage today: the final stretch of the most striking Iron Gates section.
After the Iron Gates, the Danube valley opens up almost immediately – the river widens to six kilometers within just a few bends. It’s incredible how quickly the landscape shifts here; how the river and its banks can change so radically in just a few kilometers. The impressions we’re gathering are hard to process – there’s simply too much, too fast, even though we’re moving at just 10 kilometers per hour.
Our guests are spending their last day on board, and soon we’ll have to officially exit Schengen.
In the evening, we went ashore, had dinner, and explored the small town of Moldova Veche.
