Day 44, Danube km 528 – Svištov, BGR

logbook 25 07 05

The official journey is over — but we’re still moving, still documenting, still listening as we bring the ship back home. The crew has changed: Gigi and Stephan have left; Markus and Christine remain on board, heading upstream with a changing cast of artist-friends. The logbook continues.

Yesterday we found a great anchoring spot next to a small island. We set a landline ashore, and that’s where we spent the evening—literally hanging on the landline in the Danube. Even though the water is surprisingly warm at 27°C, it still offers some relief. The heat is intense—we must be getting close to the 40-degree mark.

In the afternoon we moored in Svištov. We had to bunker 500 liters of diesel – the only option was a land-based gas station, 600 meters away.
By foot, by bike, with friendly people and their cars.
It was hot, heavy, and exhausting – but it came with a sense of adventure and the rewarding we did it feeling.
