Day 39, Hârșova, RU – Rasova, RU

logbook 25 06 30

The official journey is over — but we’re still moving, still documenting, still listening as we bring the ship back home. The crew has changed: Gigi and Stephan have left; Markus and Christine remain on board, heading upstream with a changing cast of artist-friends. The logbook continues.

Last night we struggled to find a place to anchor, so we kept going way longer than planned — but were rewarded with a stunning sunset.

Today, the river has slowed us down — in the best possible way. We passed through long, open stretches of water, surrounded by stillness and space. Along the banks, we spotted herds of pigs, wild horses, pelicans, storks, and jackals watching from the reeds.

We feel deeply grateful to witness all of this — the life along the river and the gift of unhurried time. It’s a rare kind of presence that the Danube offers out here, and we’re learning to receive it.
