We left Sulina and have officially begun our return journey — but the project is far from over. Several interviews still lie ahead, and the river continues to offer new encounters.
Today we visited a group of artists in Mila 23, currently working on a research project focused on wetlands — especially the Danube Delta. Tomorrow, we’ll conduct interviews with them.
Mila 23 is a culturally and historically rich place. It is a village of the Lipovans, a Russian minority that settled here generations ago after fleeing religious persecution. Their traditions, language, and way of life still shape the identity of the village.
