Day 28, Galați, RU – Tulcea, RU

logbook 25 06 19

Today was another day full of bureaucracy, laws, and authorities. We cleared customs out of Romania. Passed Moldova and tried to officially enter Ukraine. We had unclear information on whether it was possible to clear in at Reni, the Ukrainian city on the Danube. Unfortunately, we received incorrect information at our last stop, so the border police stopped us in front of Reni, but we had no choice but to continue.

We continued to Tulcea in Romania, where we had to clear in again to be officially back in the Schengen area. That’s how it is.

The procedures with the authorities always take many hours, but the atmosphere is always very friendly and even funny. Customs, the health department, and border police visit us on the ship: we drink water together and share mosquito repellent.

A surprising number of sea ships pass by, coming from Zanzibar, Panama, or Norway. Watching them sparks new thoughts and perspectives.
