Day 20, Drobeta Turnu Severin, RU – Kutovo, BGR

logbook 25 06 11

Yesterday’s long day of waiting and border formalities already feels far behind us. The Danube has returned to its calm and open self, carrying us onward. The Romanian landscape is beginning to change—sparse meadows now stretch softly down to the river’s edge.

We passed through Đerdap II, the final lock before Sulina, leaving the Iron Gate region behind. From here on, Bulgaria will accompany us on the right bank.

We spotted cows bathing along the shore and, for the first time, caught sight of pelicans—a quiet highlight of the day.

It was a day just the way we like it: contemplative, smooth, and without much fuss.
