Today we covered 72 kilometers on the Danube and passed through a single lock. Our goal was to reach Vienna by the afternoon, as we were expecting guests: the writers Eva Schörkhuber and Andreas Pavlic. They joined us not only to write a feature for the street newspaper Augustin, but also to spend the evening with us – sharing dinner and exchanging thoughts on the Danube, art, and politics.
Eva is also involved in Água: Wasserpoetiken und Wasserpolitiken, an interdisciplinary, multilingual project that brings together writers, scholars, and activists from Brazil, Germany, and Austria. We’re looking forward to speaking with her about this project during her visit.
Our mooring spot is also quite special: we’re docked at the private shipping museum of Captain Franz Scheriau. We plan to interview him too – there’s truly no one better to listen to when it comes to tales spun from the river than Franz from the ship.
We’re also preparing for a shared breakfast tomorrow with Stefanie Jaksch from Wasser Publishing. With her, we’ll talk, of course, about water and about creating spaces for gentle resistance.
The day ends with full plates and full minds. After inspiring exchanges and a warm welcome in Vienna, we’re ready to rest—grateful for the encounters and looking forward to what tomorrow brings.
You can find all interviews and impressions from our meetings under the „Network“ section on our website.
